Girl Talk’s fourth album, Feed the Animals, was released on Illegal Art earlier today on a “pay what you want” system, much like Radiohead’s In Rainbows.
If fans wish to pay nothing they will receive multiple mp3 files after they give a short explanation of why they’re opting not to fork over some cash. Those who give $5 get FLAC files, which reduce bandwidth without altering the audio. People willing to pay $10 will also get FLAC files plus a tangible copy of the album once it’s physically released on September 23 by Wham Vinyl.
DJ Greg “Girl Talk” Gillis also has the album, a collection of samples mixed with original instrumentation streaming on his myspace.
